that Winston Churchill was agnostic?
And most Americans wouldn't vote for an atheist/agnostic.
A common thread among billionaires

A place to vent my frustrations about living in a effed up white male dominated, ableist, capitalistic society. And if you're mean, misogynistic, or in any other way effed up I will delete you. And yes, it is at my discretion. Whine about it elsewhere.

No, I didn't know that but that doesn't surprise me! When you know that the Church dominated society at that time!
Oh, I hate the patriarchal Church and its anti-woman Bible! (No offense to anyone who's a believer because s/he needs something to hold onto in such a depressing world, and who might read this -- but I think it's time to learn about the misogyny of the Bible and patriarchal religion -- please read Mary Daly).
Doesn't really surprise me. Seriously, sometimes I think we should cut up the country into sane and insane regions. The insane regions get their religious wacko leadership and the sane regions get the people with brains.
I like that. Everyone's happy (except the people who want to save us sane ones)
I have heard that from many surveys saying that most of the population would not vote for an atheist/Agnostic candidate for president. I can't understand that position for the life of me. My favorite quote comes to mind immediately:
The constant assertion of belief is an indication of fear.
-- Jiddu Krishnamurti
And it is so true! Those who fear life, who fear what life represents and what one could do with their life is full of fear, it's full of the "not knowing" so people feel as if they need to rely on something for comfort. Not knowing turns into faith, faith that they can know what happens after death and what happens when the world is through with them--And I believe it is overwhelmingly self-centered to believe in a heaven, to believe that because you have faith, there is another destination after life.
Wow, this is a tangent in a half and I sure hope I didn't offend you my first time here!
Great blog, though, love it. Thanks for the tangent-space!
