Moore method sucks, but...

SNOW!!!!!!!!!!! SNOWSNOWSNOWSNOWSNOWSNOWSNOW 1-2 inches tonight predicted.

You know what, Rice's applied mathematics programs look AWESOME, but I don't know if I can handle more years (what 5, 6 for a PhD?) without snow. Or tons of leaves and brisk weather in fall or thunderstorms in spring. Hot summers they do have. Nothing makes me happier then taking a nice long snow walk.

Oh, and SNOW!!!!!!!!

EDITED TO ADD: I just saw the forecast for tomorrow!!!! Scattered snow showers with snow becoming steadier and heavier late in the day. Thunder possible. High 37F. Winds SW at 10 to 20 mph. Chance of snow 80%. Snow accumulating 1 to 2 inches.

Did you see that! Snow AND Thunder! I will be in HEAVEN!!!! There will be dancing and rejoicing and I will be able to (temporarily) forget the evilness of my math classes.

Fighting mental breakdown

OK, so I have 2 math classes. One is a 400-level abstract algebra class that I am doing well in. The second is a 300-level proofs class where I am given a page of shoddy definitions and remarks, am not allowed to talk to anyone, even people in the class, or look at any other books on the subject. Most our grade is from presentation of correct proofs in class, I, of course, am not very confident in my proofs since I am so confused by his notes and talking to the prof is NO HELP whatsoever. It's not like I can't do proofs, 401 is all proofs and I am doing very well in that class. Everyone else has presented 3-4 proofs, and I presented a whooping 1.

I missed class on Tuesday because of a migraine, and I have gone to class with a migraine before, but the way I deal with the inordinate amount of stress is by avoiding the class. I missed class today b/c I missed my first class (she lectures straight from the book, though) and I just couldn't move to get to the proofs class. That's how I deal with anxiety (thanks PTSD), by freezing, or in this case avoiding. I know it's not helping, especially since on Fridays I have to turn in correct forms of all the proofs presented in class (25% of my grade).

ARGH! I need a better way to deal with stress, I know this, hence all the therapy and meds and accupuncture. I would drop this class (never have so many tears been shed over a class) except it's a requirement.

How can I do proofs for my 401 class but not for this one? (Although I have a sneaking suspicion it's because I am able to talk to people and get a better grasp on the material. Group theory, check. Whatever the hell we're doing in 312, definitely not a fucking check.) ACK!

The Moore method sucks. And you know what I remember from my last class that was Moore method? Nothing, except the extreme desire to throw the prof out the window.

I like it

I have just treated myself to an Arthur Dent day and I highly recommend it. People may look at you funny, but it just feels so good.

I will be having more of these in the future, especially since I live in the land of eternal spring/fall. mmmmmmmmmm

Did you know

that Winston Churchill was agnostic?

And most Americans wouldn't vote for an atheist/agnostic.

Genderberg

Where art thou? You won't load and it's driving me insane.

To those who say "If not Kucinich then Ron Paul"

Have you looked at any of his other stances past that of the Iraq war?

Do you know how many people will die if he overturns Roe v. Wade?

Are you that stupid to trade THOUSANDS OF WOMEN'S LIVES (because let's be honest, with the Supreme Court how it is now and the political outlook bleak do you really think that if it gets overturned we'll get it back in the next few decades? century? centuries?) for what is certain to be a disastrous withdrawal?

Now let me clear things up before you jump all over me. Yes, I am against the war. Yes, I think we should pull out, but everyone right away? We fucked things up, and while I admit we need a MAJOR overhaul of how we are conducting ourselves over there (it's appalling atm), we can't just abandon what we fucked up. I would prefer to see peacekeepers brought in (which we will never be seen as: destroying their whole society for nothing more then revenge for what happened to poor little Georgie's daddy), and preferably ones who understand the culture, again NOT US. But we need to facilitate that, or the UN, or SOMEONE. and as I see it neither Kucinich or Paul has any plan to make things better for the Iraqis while bringing home the troops. It's not just about us people, it's about us being responsible for our messes.

Yeah, Ron Paul has some policies I think are great, but he has A LOT that are scarier then hell, especially the fact that he thinks that I shouldn't have control over my own body.

I posted about how to induce a miscarriage using only parsley and vitamin c and I am SHOCKED and TERRIFIED of how far women who do not have access to abortion are willing to go to abort an unwanted baby. They willingly and knowingly put their lives in jeopardy. Is that what you want? Because that's what I'm hearing.

Do women's lives not matter to you? Or is this something you just didn't know about, because I kinda hope that people research their candidates.

And to people who commented before about my choice of who to caucus for: weighing ALL the pros/cons (and Kucinich doesn't even enter into the picture anymore, first for endorsing a misogynist and racist rag (and there is a difference between saying that something has a right to exist and endorsing it), and secondly for even musing about teaming up with Ron Paul, but in reality I could have forgiven him that one) I've re-reviewed stances and will probably caucus for Edwards.

But to be completely honest I have not voted anything but 3rd party ever since I could vote (every voting year has found me in a blue state: Washington, NY, Illinois......etc). So whatever flack you want to give me about who I support in the primary just understand that I won't be voting for them, but instead be voting for some radical leftist who never stands a chance of getting elected anytime soon. Now if we went by *popular* vote instead of the ridiculous and outdated electoral college I would probably be more likely to vote democrat, these days anyway. *sigh*

Even if you don't follow US Politics

and if you're a Buffy fan, I think that this short explanation of the GOP (Republican) presidential candidates as Buffy villains will be very enlightening and funny (or depressing).

It will really bring you up to speed on the scariness of who might be the next president (not if I have anything to say, but that didn't really matter the last two elections......)

And I have PROOF! that Ron Paul is Moloch. Seriously: The town I live in is super-super liberal. Last election we had the *largest* (not kidding) caucus for Kuchinich and now the people you see at the weekly protest and who I saw at the caucus last year have RON PAUL BUMPER STICKERS!

See...the Corrupter. Can we bind him in something, because before I knew he had Moloch's powers I just could not for the life of me understand what the hell was going on.

And doesn't Huckabee look insane in that picture?
