What is your definition of (dis)Ability?

This debate has come up in forum I am a member in. People say that severe food allergies should count - I'm saying no. As a sufferer of a severe food allergy and a person with a (dis)ABility (several in fact) I call foul.

Your thoughts?

dis·a·bil·i·ty/ˌdisəˈbilitē/

Noun:

1.A physical or mental condition that limits a person's movements, senses, or activities.
2.A disadvantage or handicap, esp. one imposed or recognized by the law.
Wikipedia says " The medical model is presented as viewing disability as a problem of the person, directly caused by disease, trauma, or other health condition which therefore requires sustained medical care provided in the form of individual treatment by professionals."
